Nursing Scheduler
Provides confidential and routine secretarial functions for nursing administration. Responsible for daily scheduling of the nursing department. Prepares shift schedules to maintain required staffing in accordance with state and federal regulations. Assists with ordering and delivering nursing supplies to resident avenues. Assures resident safety.

$16.1970/hr. – $21.2485/hr.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Check nursing staff in before every shift.
- Document tardy on required forms.
- Observe staff checking in for compliance to uniform policy. Refer non-compliant staff to nursing supervisor.
- Communicate daily and fax needs to contract agencies.
- Answer phone calls and either respond to inquiry or direct calls to appropriate personnel.
- Participate in preparing agency and nursing bid form.
- Participate in orientation of new staff including agency.
- Determine and record nursing assignments according to worker availability.
- Adjust nursing schedule to meet needs to cover call offs.
- Prepare daily census/staffing record and post at reception desk.
- Sign agency attendance records.
- Complete all paperwork for PTO, OT, and call offs (etal).
- Update the master schedule while making adjustments.
- Assist the HR department with tracking agency credentials and department hours for PBJ.
- Participate in annual IDPH survey.
- Check e-mails daily and responds to all vendor requests.
- Participate in ordering and maintaining nursing supplies.
- Keep file for current C.P.R. certification for all staff.
- Responsible for filing and archiving.
- Complete required Relias training.
- Assume duties of Inventory Clerk in their absence.
- Follow established infection control procedures when isolation precautions become necessary.

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be a minimum of 18 years of age.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge:
- Follow established policies and procedures, including appropriate dress, etc.
- Reports any injuries sustained by residents to the unit nurse immediately.
- Respond to fire, accident and disasters as instructed.
- Follow established infection control procedures when isolation precautions become necessary.
- Must be able to relate information concerning order status, product information and/or needs, etc.
- Become fully informed of Wanderguard System used for resident safety.
Skills:
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
- Listen and prioritize basic instructions necessary to do multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Handle equipment and supplies in a safe manner.
Ability:
- Must be able to work harmoniously with other facility staff.
- Must possess patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
- Report any unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisory staff.
- Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so the requirements of the positions can be met.
- Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, volunteers and support services.
- Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
- Must be able to relate and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and hostile people within the facility.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents.

Enviromental:
- This position is performed in a nursing home environment at a moderate pace.
- Moderate workflow creating hearing and noise levels at a level greater than considered to be moderate at infrequent intervals totaling 51% to 70% of the time, and occasional periods of constant noise levels considered to be greater than moderate.
Physical:
- Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and or in excess of 20 pounds of force frequently and/or in excess of 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Occasional overtime may be required and must be pre-approved by the Supervisor prior to commencing overtime work.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to frequently stand, talk, and hear.
