LTC Staff Development Educator

The Long-Term Care Staff Development Educator plans, conducts, and coordinates educational programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of LTC staff. They ensure all training, orientation, certification, and in-service programs comply with facility policies and state and federal regulations. Training is guided by regulatory mandates, the facility’s Quality Improvement Program, clinical observations, or findings from licensing and certification visits.

$78,000 -$83,000

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

(All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)

  • • Applicants must have a current, unencumbered State of Illinois license along with a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferably a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and 2-5 five years of experience in a clinical setting. Long Term Care experience a plus. Must Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association for the Healthcare Provider.

  • High level computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite and an ability to learn new programs quickly.

  • Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment.

  • Demonstrated clinical experience and teaching and facilitation skills.

  • Effective communication & interpersonal skills with problem solving ability.

  • Maintain an active Nurse license in good standing throughout employment.

  • Excellent customer services skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task several projects.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED

  • Various related office machines, including computer, printer, calculator, copier, fax and telephone.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Video conferencing software (e.g., Zoom, Teams)
  • Projector or Smartboard for presentations
  • Mobile devices (tablet or smartphone) for clinical rounding or on-the-go documentation
  • Clinical equipment for demonstrations:
    • Blood pressure cuffs
    • Stethoscopes
    • Manikins for CPR or first aid training

EDUCATION AND PREVIOUS RELATED EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Minimum of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferred Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).

  • Certifications: Current State of Illinois Nursing License and BLS certification (American Heart Association).

  • Experience: 2–5 years of clinical experience in healthcare, ideally in Long-Term Care (LTC). Experience in teaching, staff training, and educational program development is highly preferred.

  • Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills with staff and learners.
  • Adaptability to changing regulations and facility needs.
  • Critical thinking to assess training effectiveness and compliance.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
