LTC Staff Development Educator

The Long-Term Care Staff Development Educator plans and delivers educational programs that support the knowledge, skills, and professional development of Long-Term Care staff. This position coordinates orientation, certification, and in-service training while ensuring compliance with facility policies and state and federal regulations to promote quality resident care.

$78,000 – $83,000

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

(All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)

  • Plan, conduct, and coordinate educational programs to develop and improve the knowledge and skills of all Long-Term Care (LTC) personnel.

  • Ensure orientation, certification, and in-service education programs are conducted in accordance with facility policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations.

  • Conduct mandatory in-service training required by state and federal regulations.

  • Develop and provide education based on facility needs identified through the Quality Improvement Program.

  • Complete clinical rounds as assigned by the Administrator/designee to identify training needs.

  • Provide education and training in response to findings from Licensing and Certification visits.

  • Maintain an active Illinois nursing license in good standing throughout employment.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED

  • Computer and standard office equipment.
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Electronic health record (EHR) and other healthcare software systems (as applicable).
  • Training and presentation materials.
  • Clinical equipment used in Long-Term Care education and skills training.

EDUCATION AND PREVIOUS RELATED EXPERIENCE

  • Current, unencumbered Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.

  • Two (2) to five (5) years of clinical nursing experience.

  • Long-Term Care experience preferred.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of adult learning principles and teaching methods in the healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise with strong teaching and facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn new software applications.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
