Dietary Aide – Full Time Float

The Dietary Aids is responsible for preparing and serving meals and beverages to residents and guests, along with cleaning duties in food service areas. Tasks include dishwashing, equipment cleaning, and maintaining sanitation and safety standards. Must be flexible and available for any departmental shift.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

(All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)

  • Prepare and serve meals and beverages to residents and/or guests.

  • Clean dishes, kitchen equipment, and food service areas to maintain hygiene standards.

  • Perform additional utility and cleaning duties as assigned.

  • Follow federal, state, and local sanitation, safety, and infection control standards.

  • Work any assigned shift within the department as needed.

  • Follow verbal and written instructions accurately.

  • Comply with safety procedures at all times.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT USED

  • Food preparation tools – knives, cutting boards, mixing bowls, utensils.

  • Cooking equipment – ovens, stovetops, microwaves, fryers, steam tables.

  • Serving equipment – trays, beverage dispensers, food carts.

  • Cleaning supplies – detergents, sanitizers, degreasers, mops, buckets.

  • Dishwashing equipment – commercial dishwashers, drying racks, sinks.

  • Protective gear – gloves, aprons, hairnets, non-slip shoes.

EDUCATION AND PREVIOUS RELATED EXPERIENCE

  • You must be at least 18 years old.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.

  • Experience: No specific prior experience required, but experience in food service or custodial work is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of basic food preparation, safe food handling, and sanitation practices.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to food safety and infection control.

  • Skill in operating kitchen equipment and using cleaning tools safely and effectively.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.

  • Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in food service areas.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, guests, and team members.
