Part Time Cook
Prepares and cook food according to cycle menus and standardized recipes. Responsibilities shall include, but not limited to, preparing, mixing and cooking ingredients, serving food and clean-up of cooking areas, serving areas and foodservice equipment. Work is performed in accordance with current Federal, State and local standards regarding sanitation, safety and infection control.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
(All responsibilities may or may not be required of all incumbents)
- Prepares appropriate foods, hot or cold, in a timely fashion for meal service
- Weighs and measures ingredient, properly using recipes in order to produce a standard product
- Operates various kitchen equipment as assigned, reports malfunctioning equipment.
- Reports unsafe conditions in the kitchen and suggests possible solutions to hazards
- Responsible for cleaning worktables and equipment, maintaining work area in sanitary condition
- Serves food on a buffet line
EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or GED
- One year of experience preparing food on a large-scale basis
- Possession of an Illinois Department of Public Health Sanitation Certificate
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to read and write simple correspondence
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to communicate information to dietary staff, residents and other employees of SHSRC
- Ability to perform math calculations
- Ability to follow security and safety regulations
- Ability to deal with specific food and/or staff related problems
- Knowledge of food preparation and cooking methods
- Knowledge of materials and equipment used in cooking operations
- Knowledge of health and safety standards in a food service operation
